my chosen one: brief 3 Magazines and Online

"Entertainment Weekly (sometimes abbreviated as EW) is an American magazine, published by Meredith Corporation, that covers film, television, music, Broadway theatre, books and popular culture"
stage 1- codes and conventions
Front cover pages 
  • Bold block fonts
  • Direct mode of address
  • Bright colours 
  • The model is dominating the front cover
  • title at the top mostly
  • text surrounding the model in a smaller font
  • model is mainly in the middle 
  • sometimes the model covers part of the masthead
  • usually minimal props
  • different social classes, gender and ethnicities
contents pages
  •  one column for photos, one for text
  • cell lines down the middle
  • short interesting sentences
  • celebrities, exclusive interviews and photoshoots.
  • photos are much smaller than the front cover

step 4- planning my own front cover
1. music magazine
  •  logo at the top center of the page taking up 1 fifth of the page
  • close up of the model portrait high key lighting, wearing green with a green gel light on her.direct mode of address, looking serious.
  • a few paragraphs about the article inside the magazine surrounding the photo on the right hand side like the pink Hollywood reporter cover.
  • green and white color pallet. 
  • divided into three cell lines, mast head at the top, her face in the middle, text at the bottom
  • Hearst magazine logo on one of the corners. 
  • lower social class, clothed in casual clothes, attracting to the general teens 
  •  sans serif font

  • vintage style as its advertising a "once upon a time in Hollywood" themed movie set in the old days. if i can get the right costume. if i cant i will copy the pose and props but change the vintage theme.
  • upper class vibes as she looks rich

  • model is more farther away in this edition
  • sitting on a stool in the center
  • umbrella above, with the logo covering the top of the page

  •  this photo type however incorporate text like in the Hollywood reporter magazines.
